Ethisphere Names Nine RILA Members to the World’s Most Ethical Companies List

Adam Siegel, RILA

On behalf of Retail Industry Leaders Association, I would like to congratulate our members who have been named to the 2012 Ethisphere World’s Most Ethical Companies list. Safeway, Gap, Timberland, Whole Foods, Costco, Target, Best Buy, T-Mobile, and Petco were all recognized for their commitment and delivery on ethical business standards and compliance.

Ethispere’s World’s Most Ethical (WME) Companies list selection process is based on a questionnaire and diligent research into companies’ ethical business practices, legal compliance, governance, culture, and corporate citizenship in the community.  There is no set number of companies who may be named to the list each year.

It is sixth year of publication; the WME Companies list recognized a record 145 companies across 36 industries.  Additionally, 43 companies on this year’s list are headquartered outside of the United States.

The nine RILA members who are named in the list is a testament to the United States’ retail industry’s efforts to promote and further sustainable and ethical operations across the enterprise.
