On swipe fees, efforts by the good guys are getting proper airplay

This local news blog in Denver, CO, highlights new efforts by small merchants “hitting back big banks” over swipe fee reform.  Radio ads in Colorado encourage Sen. Michael Bennet to steer clear of the misguided Senate legislation that would delay the Fed’s proposed rule to return sanity to the debit swipe-fee marketplace.   The banks are spending lots of money to convince Congress to end-run the Federal Reserve’s proposed rule to limit debit swipe fees to 12 cents per transaction.

Small merchants are increasingly saying stop right there. These reforms are good, needed, and were passed by a bipartisan Congress just last year. Let’s stop the sniping and move forward.
